Located in the revitalized the historic North Kowloon Magistracy Building in Kowloon, SCAD is where talented students begin rewarding and professional creative careers. The university offers a diverse assortment of degree programs and courses, each led by faculty who are not only professors but also are accomplished artists and designers professionals.

The LUXARITY x SCAD grant has aided four students in the pursuit of the greater understanding of sustainability and creating social impact within fashion industry. The grant has contributed to two impactful study experiences: a trip to Sri Lanka, visiting sustainable factories where students conducted a sharing workshop with local students; and sponsored the students to take part in Copenhagen Youth Fashion Summit alongside the UN Global Compact Team.

We see a greater trend in collaborations with industry that are circular and long lasting. Its how we continuously work together to give back and support each other with industry, students and academia all benefiting. It lays the foundation for future generations to follow!

The students visited the first custom-built sustainbly designed factory in the world, which is Hirdaramani first ‘eco-friendly’ facility. Integrated within the study experience, the students met with Vice Chair of the Sustainable Apparel Coalition, Nikhil Hirdaramani in a private presentation.

The LUXARITY dedicated student volunteers also conducted a sharing workshop with 20 young Sri Lankan fashion design students on the importance of sustainability and circular fashion. This collaborative workshop enhanced the lives of both student groups sharing valuable perspectives on their micro-ecosystems and how they can work together to create a positive impact.
